چکیده

A total of 25 short-day onion genotypes along with two recommended varieties viz. BARI Piaz-1 and Piaz-4 were evaluated for 5 ½ months at the bamboo-made ambient storage. The study was conducted Spices Research Sub-Centre, Bangladesh Agricultural Institute, Faridpur, in 2020 geographic coordinates- 23̊ 11̍ N 89̊ 09̍ E. assessing their storability. All trial under accession lines such as AC Bog 409, 410, 411, 412, 413, 414, 415, 416, 417, 419, 420, 421, 422, 423, 424, 425, 426, 427, 428, 429, 430, 431, 433, 434 435. experiment laid out a completely randomized design three replications. storage data recorded periodically 20 days interval (20 May, 08 June, 27 16 July, 04 August, 23 11 September, 30 September 19 October) on rotting (%), sprouting physiological loss weight (PLW, %) (%) bulbs. results revealed that genotypes/varieties had significant difference rotting, sprouting, PLW genotype 430 showed lowest cumulative (10.47%) but 429 exhibited highest (39.47%). maximum minimum losses from (23.03%) (1.47%). (19.39%). However, 420 (44.68%). calculated 433 (79.99%) (44.62%). rate higher May to July than August October. increased increase period. average 20.71%, 13.71%, 29.87% 64.29%, respectively study. capacity not correlated skin colour onion. dry matter content bulb found partial associated capacity. Finally, present storability study, (44.62%), 426 (45.28%), 413 (47.13%) (45.31%) good performance basis loss.

YIELD AND STORABILITY OF ONION (Allium cepa L.) AS AFFECTED BY VARYING LEVELS OF IRRIGATION

Bulb yield and storability of onions (cv. BARI Piaj-1) was studied against five levels of irrigation viz., no irrigation, irrigation at 10, 15, 20, and 30 days interval. Yield and storage losses were increased gradually with increasing number of irrigation. The highest yield of onion was obtained with a total of six irrigations at 10 days interval and it was at par with treatment that received ...

Effect of sulphur application in onion (Allium cepa L.)

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of sulphur application on growth, yield and quality of onion at Horticulture Farm of Institute of Agriculture, Visva-Bharati, Sriniketan. The treatments consisted of six incremental doses of sulphur application (10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 kg ha-1) and no sulphur application (control, 0 kg S ha-1). Treatments were arranged in Randomized Block Design...

NUTRIENT DIAGNOSIS ( CND ) OF ONION ( Allium cepa L . )

Nutritional constraints often restrict yields of crops in farmers’ fields. Plant nutrient status is currently diagnosed using empirically derived nutrient norms from arbitrarily defined high and low yielding subpopulations above a quantitative yield target. Generic models can assist Compositional Nutrient Diagnosis (CND) in providing a yield cutoff value between high-and lowyielding subpopulati...
